THE UNIT

Background

At The Wellington Peripheral Nerve Injury (PNI) Unit we practice an integrated approach with consultants and specialist physicians from a number of complementary disciplines, meeting to discuss each individual patient's condition and decide the most appropriate care programme.

The Unit is led by Mr Fox and Mr Sinisi who also work together on the PNI Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and now provide the exact same range of high quality nerve injury treatment within the PNI Unit at the Wellington Hospital.

While both Mr Fox and Mr Sinisi now work treating nerve injuries, they have reached this superspecialty through different training routes, Mr Fox in Orthopaedic surgery and Mr Sinisi in Neurosurgery. They therefore have surgical skills that complement each others and operate together where cases require such a skill mix.

Our team includes oncologists, neurophysiologists, anaesthetists, radiologists and specialist physicians using the very latest endoscopic and diagnostic technology. Our nurses are chosen for their high level of training and wide experience in these areas.

Many of our doctors are involved in ground breaking research and bring to the Wellington the very latest proven techniques to treat both commonplace and complex conditions alike.
